Symptoms. Parvovirus B19 most commonly causes fifth disease, a mild rash illness that usually affects children. Adults can get infected with parvovirus B19, too.
Parvovirus B19 is a common infection in adults and children. There are reports of secondary parvovirus infection in immunocompromised.
Adults may also be infected with parvovirus B19 and may have no symptoms, or may have the typical rash of fifth disease, joint pain or swelling.
